Land Acknowledgment

Manitoba Wildcraft acknowledges that we are gathered on ancestral lands, Treaty 1 territory, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. Acknowledging this truth is important yet only a small part in cultivating strong relationships with Indigenous communities.

Who is Manitoba Wildcraft?

We are a young family that is based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Combining our passion for the outdoors, our interest in sustainable farming/foraging, and using our own learning experiences – we have created the site Manitoba Wildcrafting. Our goal is to build community, share our experiences, tell our stories, and sell our handmade products sourced from the forests and plains of Manitoba.

We spend a large part of our time camping and living in the woods near the Spruce Woods Provincial Forest, along the Assiniboine River. One of us is currently studying biology at the University of Manitoba and one of us is a content creator and digital marketing professional.

What is wildcrafting?

Wildcrafting (commonly known as foraging) is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or “wild” habitat, primarily for food, medicine, tools, social offerings, or other traditional purposes. It applies to uncultivated plants wherever they may be found, and is not necessarily limited to wilderness areas however our products are either harvested on our private family land or harvested from the public forests and plains of Manitoba, Canada.

Manitoba Wildcraft Products

Manitoba Wildcraft products are ethically sourced and harvested with the conservation of the forest and grassland prairies as a core value. All of our products are small-batch harvests. Our harvests are typically tied to some adventure or some unique piece of content that adds context to each one of our harvested products and handmade goods.
